Lorenzo Alexander named Defensive MVP as AFC wins 2017 Pro Bowl

Lorenzo Alexander had nothing left to prove, but the Buffalo Bills linebacker managed to earn one more accolade Sunday night, earning Defensive MVP honors as the AFC won the 2017 Pro Bowl, 20-13. The former undrafted free agent had played defensive tackle, offensive guard, tight end, and outside linebacker in his mission to stay in the NFL, lasting ten years in the league (mostly playing special teams). Signed to a veteran-minimum contract last offseason, Alexander accomplished the season of his life this year, collecting 12.5 sacks and a Pro Bowl selection. Turns out he had more magic left after all. Alexander earned the MVP after leading the team in tackles and shutting down a potential ga

Lorenzo Alexander: How I Got Here

Before this year, all people knew me as was a special teams guy, and as a player who does not possess elite measurables, but who plays with tenacity and heart. All of that is still true. But suddenly, this season, at the ripe old age of 33, I was also among the league leaders in sacks. I won the AFC Defensive Player of the Month award in October. I’m a Pro Bowler for the second time — but the first time as a position payer. And most people don’t understand how I did it. FULL ARTICLE HERE

Lorenzo Alexander is second-team All-Pro

Buffalo Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander continues to rack up accolades for 2016 after posting the best season in his 10-year career. Having already been selected to his first-ever Pro Bowl, Alexander now has an All-Pro selection on his resume, as well. The 33-year-old was voted second team All-Pro by the associated press (receiving four votes from a panel of 50 members) and is the only Bills player to be selected to either of the two teams in 2016. (LeSean McCoy was named a flex player.) Having been used mainly as a special teams player for the majority of his career, Alexander set personal bests across the board in 2016 after revitalizing his career, subbing in initially for rookie edge

Marquez White, overlooked in college, is making NFL noise

Florida State cornerback Marquez White has remained largely enigmatic nationally for the last two seasons. That is a blessing and a curse that comes when opponents ignore you. White’s career at FSU will end Dec. 30 when the No. 11 Seminoles play No. 6 Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl, and it will likely end quietly, which is appropriate. The Alabama native doesn’t necessarily love the lack of attention, but at the same time, being overlooked is somewhat of a badge of honor. Because as a cornerback, being avoided is a good thing. “I feel like I don’t get the recognition because I don’t get thrown the ball, so I don’t make those crazy, spectacular plays,” White said. White has a plan, h
