Steve Atwater Back with the Broncos

Steve Atwater is rejoining the Broncos. The former safety and 11-year NFL veteran was hired by the team as a fan development manager and an insider for its website.

Atwater, 50, played 10 years and started all 155 games in his career as a Bronco after the team selected him in the first round (No. 20) of the 1989 draft. After winning a pair of Super Bowls and earning eight Pro Bowl selections as well as three all-pro honors in Denver, Atwater signed with the Jets in free agency in 1998. He played one year in New York before calling it a career.

In 2000, Atwater signed a ceremonial one-day contract to retire a Bronco. His name was added as the 20th member of the Ring of Fame five years later.
