Todd Gurley is a tough player to replace, but C.J. Anderson did as good a job as anyone for the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. He filled in for the injured Gurley by carrying it 20 times for 167 yards and a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals.
It was the second-most yards he’s had in a game and his most efficient performance in the NFL (8.4 yards per carry), earning a weekly award for his efforts. He was named FedEx Ground Player of the Week on Thursday after running all over the Cardinals.
Anderson played a near-perfect game in his Rams debut with his only mistake being the sack he allowed after a mix-up with Rob Havenstein on the first series. He was shifty in the hole, showed great power by running over defenders and was good in pass protection aside from that mistake.
If Gurley is unable to play on Sunday, Anderson is more than capable of handling the starting duties.
