Cowboys Take Marquez White

April 29, 2017

The latest NFL draft pick from the Dallas Cowboys is in, and Marquez White of Florida State is on his way to D-FW.

The Cowboys selected White with the 216th overall pick in the sixth round. Earlier in the round, the Cowboys traded away the 211th pick to New England in exchange for Nos. 216 and 239.

White (6-0, 194 pounds) allowed only one touchdown over his last two seasons as cornerback for the Seminoles.

White racked up 25 tackles in each of his last two seasons at Florida State. He pulled down on interception as a junior and two as a senior.

He is the fourth defensive back that the Cowboys have drafted so far. The defensive backfield is a huge area of need for the team after it lost four starters in free agency.

NFL.com's profile of White describes him as: "A two-sport athlete, White played with the basketball Seminoles for six games in the 2013-2014 season. He quickly decided, however, that football was his best future profession. White was primarily played as a reserve and special teamer in 25 games in 2013 (12 tackles) and 2014 (three tackles). He earned a starting spot for all 13 games as a junior (25 tackles, two for loss, one interception, and two pass breakups). White was also a 13-game starter and honorable mention All-ACC from league media pick in 2016, intercepting two passes and breaking up four passes.
