Willie Roaf #2 on Saints List of All Time Greats

No. 2: Left tackle Willie Roaf

Roaf is one of the most decorated offensive tackles in NFL history. He was the cornerstone of the Saints' offensive line for nearly a decade after the club selected him with the No. 8 overall pick in the 1993 NFL Draft. A rare package of size, strength and agility, Roaf became an instant starter and went on to start 131 games over the next nine seasons. He was named All-Pro in 1994 and 1995 and earned seven Pro-Bowl invitations, second most in club history.

"Willie is the best left tackle I've ever seen," former Saints coach Jim Haslett said.

Roaf enjoyed the rare distinction of being named to the NFL's All-Decade teams of the 1990s and 2000s and became the second Saint to be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012. He was inducted into the Saints' Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Saints' Ring of Honor in 2013.

"He was the best player on our team during his entire tenure with us, one of the top players in the history of our franchise and one of the NFL's greatest at his position," Saints owner Tom Benson said.
